Project: Ocean House, Concrete Repairs & Coatings

The project:
Ocean House, located in St. Leonards on Sea, Hastings, is an open plan office suite just South of the A21 and East of Hastings town centre. The building required an extensive programme of repair and protection works which APA Concrete Repairs Ltd were appointed to undertake.
The solution:
Specified areas of defective concrete were first marked out and subject to saw cutting and breakout, before exposed steel reinforcing was cleaned and protected using Fosroc Nitoprime Zincrich. Fosroc Nitobond HAR was then applied to the prepared concrete substrate, prior to applying Fosroc Renderoc HB to reform the defective concrete, with the finish ensured to match that of the original profile. The ring beams on all elevations were jet washed to readily prepare the surfaces prior to the application of Fosroc Renderoc ST05. In addition, the existing mastic which had become brittle and ineffective, was removed and replaced, providing additional protection.
The outcome:
The refurbishments to the Ocean House building were completed in October 2018 and provided the much-needed restoration and protection required to surrounding facades, with the coatings applied guaranteeing additional preservation and an extended life cycle of the repairs, with all materials used for the completion of this project provided by Fosroc.
